Learn how to migrate your Best Wallet to enable multi-chain wallets, meaning you will now be able to buy and hold Bitcoin (BTC).
Following Best Wallet's latest update, Best Wallet has now improved its wallet infrastructure to enable Bitcoin and, in the future, blockchains like Solana, Base, and Ton.
This means you must go through the migration process in Best Wallet to enable multi-chain wallets, which happens all in-app and shouldn't take longer than a few minutes.
Don't worry, all your wallets and funds should automatically be imported as you migrate. However, we do recommend you back up your wallets beforehand, as an additional level of protection — read our guide on how to securely create backups.
Watch our video tutorial
Step 1: Start the migration
First, you need to upgrade Best Wallet to version 2.5.1 in the App Store or Google Play Store.
After doing so, you should get an in-app notification prompting you to migrate to multi-chain wallets.
You can also migrate by heading to your Settings tab:
Next, tap on Manage Wallets.
Here you will see two options: "Multi-Chain Wallets" and "EVM-Only Wallets". Tap "Multi-Chain Wallets" to start the migration.
The next few screens will contain important information on what this migration means.
Whilst this migration will only enable Bitcoin support (as well as Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Polygon), many more blockchains will be added in the coming months, including Solana, Base, and Tron.
It will also enhance your wallet security, including the ability to backup your new wallet to your personal cloud storage.
Tap Get Your Multi-Chain Wallet to begin. You'll have a quick rundown of what the migration means — please read through this carefully.
The most important detail is that you must use the same email you initially signed up for Best Wallet with for the migration. Not only will this ensure a smooth migration, but it will also be how you log back into Best Wallet moving forward.
Note: Your current wallets (main wallet as well as any imported or created wallets) will remain in your Best Wallet app post-migration, but now classified as "EVM-Only Wallets". However, we strongly recommend backing up these wallets before you begin the migration as a precaution,
Once you've understood, tap "Continue".
Step 2: Create your multi-wallet account
Next, select how you want to create your new multi-wallet account.
You must use the same email — we recommend also using the same method to migrate.
For example, if you signed up to Best Wallet initially via Google using the email [email protected], migrate using Google with the same email.
Once you've selected which account, you will have to log in. This will be different for each method: email, Google, or Apple. Just follow the on-screen steps to continue.
Next, select the account you want to use — make sure you're using the account with the same email you first signed up with.
There will be an explanation of how Best Wallet will interact with your account. Make sure to tick all the boxes.
Once you've selected all, scroll down and tap "Allow" to start your multi-wallet creation.
Next, Best Wallet will set up your account and generate your new wallet's private keys. This process takes about 30 seconds — please stay in Best Wallet while your multi-chain wallet is created.
Once that is done, tap "Continue".
Step 3: Back up your new wallet
The next step is to back up your new wallet. This means that even if you lose or damage your device, you will be able to access your wallet on a new device.
Although this step is not mandatory, we strongly recommend you back up your wallet, as it will help secure and protect any cryptocurrency you hold. Your backup is entirely secure and never held by Best Wallet; it is stored on your personal cloud storage.
You don't have to back up via the same method or email as you signed up with — this is completely separate from your Best Wallet account.
Note: If you're backing up on an Android device, you will only be able to backup to Google Drive.
Once you select which method to use, tap "Continue".
Again, choose your account, and follow the onscreen prompts.
There will be an explanation of how Best Wallet will interact with your account for your backup. Once you've read, tap "Allow" to finalize your backup.
Next, protect your backup by providing a Secret Word — this simple method adds an extra layer of security to your backup and therefore your wallet.
Even if your email or account is hacked or compromised, thanks to your secret word, only you will be able to recover your new multi-chain wallet.
Enter a secret word — we recommend using something memorable to you but not easily guessed. Don't forget to add a reminder, a short hint towards your secret word.
Once you've entered your secret word and reminder, check the box acknowledging that if you lose access to your device and secret answer, you will not be able to recover your wallet.
Next, tap continue to start customizing your new multi-chain wallet!
Step 4: Customize your new wallet
You can change the color and the name of your new mult-chain wallet.
Once you've customized (or not) your new multi-chain wallet, tap "Done" to finalize the migration.
You will be able to view your new multi-chain wallet in Best Wallet, as well as see your old wallets.
To see your old wallets, swipe along the wallet cards — your old main wallet will now have a new color and tag: EVM-Only.
If you need to access or customize your new multi-chain wallet, just go to Manage Wallets in Settings.
Here you will see your new multi-chain wallet, plus your cloud backup.
