Learn about the Best Wallet multi-chain wallet migration — what it is, why it’s necessary, and what it means for your wallet and crypto.
What is the multi-chain wallet migration?
The multi-chain wallet migration is an in-app upgrade to Best Wallet’s infrastructure that enables support for multiple blockchains, including Bitcoin (BTC). It involves re-signing up for Best Wallet in order to create a new multi-chain wallet.
Read our guide on the differences between EVM-Only vs Multi-Chain wallets.
This migration is essential for enhancing Best Wallet, adding support for Bitcoin to Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Polygon, plus ensuring further support for blockchains like Solana, Base, and Tron in the coming months.
After updating the Best Wallet app to version 2.5.1, all users must complete the migration process in-app to activate multi-chain wallet functionality. The process should only take a few minutes, and all your crypto and wallets will automatically be imported into your new Best Wallet account.

Why is Best Wallet migrating to multi-chain infrastructure?
Best Wallet previously supported only three Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) chains: Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Polygon.
With this migration, Best Wallet will support Bitcoin (BTC) and, soon, other major blockchains.
This change:
Enables Bitcoin transactions: You can now buy, send, and receive BTC directly in Best Wallet.
Prepares for future blockchain integrations: Upcoming support for Solana, Base, Tron, and many more blockchains.
Enhances wallet security: The upgraded infrastructure includes improved security measures, including cloud wallet backups.
What happens during the migration?
First, you will need to update your app to version 2.5.1. Next, you will have to migrate in Best Wallet — it only takes a few minutes and happens all in-app.
The key points:
All your wallets and funds will remain safe. All your existing wallets (Main, Created, and Imported) should be automatically imported into your new account. We recommend making manual backups just in case — read our guide on how to do this.
The migration happens within the Best Wallet app. You won't need to transfer anything — the process happens in-app and should only take a few minutes.
You must use the same email as your original sign-up. This ensures a smooth transition and continued access to your old wallets. So, if you signed up to Best Wallet via Google with your Gmail "[email protected]", please use the same email and method to migrate.
A new multi-chain wallet will be created. It will support Bitcoin and upcoming blockchains, as well as Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, and Polygon.
Cloud backup is strongly recommended. Secure your wallet with an encrypted backup and a secret word.
How does Fireblocks power Best Wallet’s new infrastructure?
Best Wallet’s upgraded infrastructure is built on Fireblocks, a leading digital asset security platform. Fireblocks technology provides:
Multi-party computation (MPC) security: Enhancing wallet protection without exposing private keys.
Institutional-grade security: Used by top crypto platforms and financial institutions.
Seamless multi-chain integration: Allowing Best Wallet to support new blockchains without complex transitions.
This ensures your assets remain secure while Best Wallet continues expanding its features.
How to migrate to a multi-chain wallet
The migration process is simple and takes just a few minutes:
Update Best Wallet to version 2.5.1 via the App Store or Google Play Store.
Follow the in-app migration prompt or go to Settings > Manage Wallets > Multi-Chain Wallets.
Use your original email or sign-in method to create your new multi-chain wallet.
Back up your wallet using cloud storage for added security.
Customize your wallet (optional) by selecting a name and color.
Once completed, you can buy, send, and receive Bitcoin, with more blockchain support coming soon. Read our guide on how to migrate a multi-chain wallet.
What happens after migration?
You will see your new multi-chain wallet in the Best Wallet app, as well as your old wallets, labeled now as "EVM-Only" wallets.
Once you migrate, you will be able to buy and transact with Bitcoin immediately. Future blockchain support will roll out without additional migrations.
