Learn how to fully prepare to migrate your Best Wallet to enable multi-chain wallets.
To learn more about the migration, read our guide on what it is and why you should do it.
Following these steps will help ensure a smooth migration to multi-chain wallets and protect your crypto and existing wallets.
Back up all your existing wallets in Best Wallet
Before migrating, it’s essential to back up each of your wallets in Best Wallet. This ensures you always have access to your crypto, even if something unexpected happens during migration.
We strongly recommend backing up each wallet before migration — whilst all your wallets (main, imported, and created) should automatically import over (under the new tag "EVM-Only), it's good crypto practice to have manual backups of any wallet you own, especially if you have funds in it.
Because Best Wallet is non-custodial, we can't ever access your wallet or funds for you. If you lose access, we can't restore or access them for you.
That's why it's very important you make secure, offline backups of your wallet's private keys or secret recovery phrases (for created wallets).
To back up your wallet, securely copy and store that wallet's private key:
Open your Best Wallet and head to Settings
Go to Manage Wallets, then select the wallet you want to back up
Tap Show Private Keys — remember they're for your eyes only
Make a copy of your private keys by writing it down on a piece of paper
Double-check it, as one mistake would be your backup won't work
Store your private key backup somewhere secure
For more information on how to do this, read our step-by-step guide on backing up your wallets.
Never store your private key on your phone’s notes app or in a screenshot. Keep it offline in a secure location, such as a paper backup or an encrypted USB drive.
Update your app to the latest version
Make sure you’re running the latest version of Best Wallet before starting the migration. Updates often include security fixes and improvements that ensure a smooth migration.
How to update Best Wallet:
For iOS: Open the App Store, go to your profile, and check for updates.
For Android: Open the Google Play Store, search for Best Wallet, and tap “Update” if available.
Using the latest version reduces the risk of errors or bugs during migration.

What is the migration?
The migration allows you to upgrade your Best Wallet account to enable multi-chain wallets, which support Bitcoin (BTC) as well as the previous EVM-only chains.
The migration will keep your existing wallets as they are, as well as create a new wallet (labeled "Multi-Chain"), which supports Bitcoin transactions.
These multi-chain wallets, in the coming months, will support blockchains like Solana, Base, Ton, and many more.
How to migrate
Once you’ve backed up your wallets and updated your app, you’re ready to begin the migration.
The process is simple and secure:
Update Best Wallet to version 2.5.2 (or the latest version) via the App Store or Google Play Store.
Follow the in-app migration prompt or go to Settings > Manage Wallets > Multi-Chain Wallets.
Use your original email or sign-in method to create your new multi-chain wallet.
Back up your wallet using cloud storage for added security.
Customize your wallet (optional) by selecting a name and color.
