Learn how to access and export your multi-chain wallet's private keys in Best Wallet.

Exporting your private keys allows you to recover and import your wallet outside of Best Wallet if needed.

However, private keys must be handled with extreme care — anyone who has access to them can access and take your funds.

Next, follow the steps below to safely view and copy your wallet's private keys. It’s crucial to store them securely offline — think of your wallet's private keys as you would with online banking passwords or pin codes.

Step 1: Go to Settings

Open Best Wallet and tap the Settings tab in the navigation bar.

Next, select Manage Wallets.

From here, choose Multi-Chain Wallets.

Step 2: Select the wallet to export

Choose the multi-chain wallet you want to export private keys from. We recommend only exporting your keys if absolutely necessary.

Next, tap Export Private Keys.

Step 3: Acknowledge the risks

Before you can view your private keys, you’ll need to understand the implications of exporting your wallet's private keys.

Please read through these carefully, and only proceed if you fully understand the risks.

Once you check the box, tap "Continue Anyway".

Step 4: Review lost benefits

Next, read through the benefits you’ll lose when exporting your private keys:

Again, read through these carefully, and then tap the checkbox. Next, tap "Export Private Key" to see your wallet's different private keys.

Step 5: Access and copy your private keys

Your wallet will have different private keys per blockchain. Although they all are tied under one wallet in Best Wallet, you will need to back them up individually.

It works like this: By backing up your Bitcoin private key, you secure your Bitcoin (BTC) funds, by backing up your Ethereum private key, you secure any Ethereum-based funds (ERC-20 tokens), and so on.

That's why it's important to back up the private keys of any blockchain you have assets on. If you hold funds on all chains, then you need to make a copy of all your private keys.

To see the private key, first select the chain/network.

That blockchain's private key will now be visible.

You can copy them to your device’s clipboard, but we strongly recommend storing them securely offline instead of saving them digitally.

It's incredibly important to handle all your wallet's private keys securely. If anyone gains access to them, they can take your wallet and move your funds without your permission.

Step 6: Manage your backup

Your private keys are now exported.

Keep them safe — losing or exposing them means losing access to your funds. If someone else gains access to them, they can take your crypto.

How to securely back up your private keys

When exporting your private keys, follow these best practices:

  • Write them down on paper and store them in a secure place, such as a safe or safety deposit box.

  • Never store them digitally in emails, notes, or cloud storage to prevent unauthorized access.

  • Do not share them with anyone. No one from Best Wallet or any legitimate platform will ever ask for your private keys.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why would I need to export my private keys?

A: Exporting private keys allows you to recover your wallet outside of Best Wallet. However, Best Wallet provides secure cloud backups, so exporting is only necessary in rare cases.

Q: Can I store my private key digitally?

A: We strongly advise against it. Digital backups (screenshots, notes apps, cloud storage) are vulnerable to hacking. A secure offline copy is the safest option.

Q: What if I lose my private key?

A: If you lose your private keys, and don’t have a cloud backup or can't access the Best Wallet app, recovery is impossible. Best Wallet cannot independently restore your wallet for you or ever access your wallet's private keys.

Q: Can I access my private keys again later?

A: Yes, you can repeat these steps as long as you still have access to your wallet in Best Wallet.

Need further support?

Whilst we strongly recommend only backing up your multi-chain wallets via the cloud backup option in-app, we understand sometimes you may want to import a wallet elsewhere or make a secure offline backup. It's very important you handle any manual, offline backup with incredible care.

If you’re having trouble exporting your private keys, contact the Best Wallet support team at [email protected] or open a ticket on our Support website.

Important Reminder: No one from Best Wallet will ever request your private key. Keep this information strictly private and never share it with anyone.
