Backing up your wallet is a crucial step to ensure you never lose access to your funds.
If you lose your device, uninstall Best Wallet, or switch to a new phone, having a backup allows you to restore your wallet and continue managing your crypto seamlessly. This guide explains why backups matter and how to secure your multi-chain and EVM-only wallets.
Backing up your multi-chain wallet
Best Wallet uses multi-party computation (MPC) to secure your wallet, meaning there are no seed phrases to store.
However, your key share is stored on your device. If you uninstall the Best Wallet app or lose/change your device, this key share is lost, and without a backup, you won’t be able to log in.
To prevent this, you need to back up your multi-chain wallet(s). The backup process links your wallet key share to your Google or Apple account, allowing you to restore access easily if you reinstall the app or switch devices. It's entirely secure as it remains on your own personal cloud drive, meaning Best Wallet doesn't hold or access this information.
To back up your multi-chain wallet:
Head to Settings → Manage Wallets
Tap Multi-Chain Wallets, then Cloud Backup
Back up to Apple iCloud or Google Drive
Secure your backup with a secret word
For step-by-step instructions, follow our guide to back up your multi-chain wallet.
Backing up your EVM-only wallet
If you’ve added or migrated an EVM-only wallet in Best Wallet, you need to back it up separately. These wallets rely on a Secret Recovery Phrase (SRP) or private key. If you lose access and don’t have a backup, you won’t be able to recover your funds.
The best way to secure your backup is to write down your SRP or private key and store it in a safe, offline location. Never share it with anyone, as these are the keys to your wallet and crypto.
Follow our step-by-step guide to back up your EVM-only wallet.
Why backing up means you can access your funds
If you don’t back up your wallet and lose access to your device, you will be locked out permanently. Best Wallet is a self-custodial wallet, meaning we don’t store your key share or private keys. Without a backup, no one—including us—can recover your funds.
Backing up ensures you can always log in, restore your wallet, and manage your crypto whenever you need.
