Step 1: Get started

There are several ways to swap your crypto in the Best Wallet app. The easiest way is via the “Swap” button on your wallet card.

Step 2: Set up your Swap

The Swap page will give you all the needed options to successfully execute your trade.

First, make sure you're executing the swap in the right wallet. If you want to change the wallet you're swapping in, tap the wallet at the top.

Select the correct wallet you want to swap your assets in.

Once that is done, you will see the correct wallet selected at the top. Next, select the crypto asset you want to exchange for a new token.

You will see a list of your crypto assets in that wallet.

Select the one you want to exchange. Pay attention to the chain of your token — many tokens, such as USDT, can exist on several blockchains. Best Wallet has a little chain symbol next to each cryptocurrency, but you can also filter by chain at the top.

Next, select the token you want to receive.

If the token you want to receive isn't in the suggested token list, you can search for it.

Pay attention to the chain the token you want to receive is on.

For example, Shiba Inu is an Ethereum-based token, but other tokens can exist on multiple networks. You can swap cross-chain in Best Wallet, but swapping on the same blockchain network is often cheaper.

Once you've selected the crypto token you want to receive, you can input the amount you want to exchange. You can also see what chain you're swapping from and to, just below the cryptocurrencies you're swapping.

If you want to exchange all your tokens for the new crypto, you can tap the "Max" option.

If you don't want to send the maximum amount, enter an amount and tap "Done" and Best Wallet will calculate the exchange rate and how much you will receive in the other cryptocurrency.

Best Wallet will calculate the best trade route for you, ensuring you get the best exchange rates and the lowest fees for your swap at that time.

Once Best Wallet has found the best trade route, you will be able to see how many tokens you will receive in exchange for your token, as well as the gas fee.

Double-check all the information; ensure you have entered the right assets and amounts because once you confirm your swap, it can't be undone.

Note: Both the amount you will receive and the gas fees are based on estimates, and may fluctuate a little by the time you confirm your swap. This is entirely natural due to the volatile nature of the crypto market.

Breakdown of gas fees

Gas fees are just a catch-all term for processing/transaction fees paid to crypto networks, like Ethereum or BNB Smart Chain. These are paid to process and validate your swap and are never set or received by Best Wallet.

You have to pay gas fees in the crypto network's native cryptocurrency, which might be different from the cryptocurrency you're swapping.

So if you're swapping Tether for Shiba Inu on the Ethereum network, you will have to pay your swap's gas fee in Ethereum tokens (ETH). It's therefore important to have some ETH and other native tokens in your wallets, to be able to swap or send your crypto.

If you don't own any Ethereum, you will be given the option to buy ETH tokens on the swap page.

Read our guide on how to buy crypto in Best Wallet. It's good practice to own the native tokens of any crypto network you want to transact on, especially ETH as Ethereum is one of the most popular blockchain networks.

Once you've double-checked everything and have enough to pay for gas fees, tap "Preview Transaction".

Step 3: Confirm your Swap

In the Review Swap screen, you will see a breakdown of your exchange, including what assets you are swapping, what chain you're swapping from and to, and any fees.

To see more details, tap the "View Details" button.

This will show your swap's gas fee and protocol fee (if applicable)—while same-chain swaps generally won't have protocol fees, cross-chain swaps often do charge a small protocol fee that goes to the blockchain bridge.

If you're happy with everything, tap "Swap".

You may have to approve the swap in an additional step. This is standard practice and is an extra layer of security to approve the DEX or bridge that's facilitating your swap.

Because Best Wallet has integrated with Rubic, which has over 100 different DEXs and Bridges to process swaps, you may need to approve this specific DEX to swap your tokens.

This is entirely secure and won't you won't have to do anything out-of-app, Best Wallet processes everything for you.

Once you approve, your swap will be submitted on the blockchain!

This can take around a minute, and we recommend staying on the swap screen.

How long your swap takes depends on the type of swap (same-chain or cross-chain) and which crypto network you're using. Once completed, you should see your new tokens/token amounts in your wallet!

Step 4: View your swap transaction

To view your swap, tap "Transaction History", or go to your Trade tab, then go to History.

You will see its status (Successful, Pending, or Failed) and details about the trade.

If you have notifications enabled, you will get an update on your swap via a push notification. Read our guide on how to enable notifications in Best Wallet.

Why your swap might not go through straight away

It might take a few minutes for your swap to complete and your crypto amounts to update.

Crypto transaction processing times can vary depending on what network you've swapped on (Ethereum, for example, is known to be one of the slowest), the amount you've swapped, and how busy the network is.

But don’t worry; your swap will soon be reflected in your Best Wallet, it may just take some time. Remember, you can check the status of your swap in Best Wallet via the History section in your Trade tab!

Once it goes through, you should see your new token balances in your wallet's token list.

Need further support?

There are many reasons why a swap might fail, including not enough crypto to pay for the swap's gas fee, changing values of tokens, or issues routing the swap through a decentralized exchange.

First, check you have enough crypto to pay for the gas fee (with a small buffer), and make sure you are swapping the right tokens.

If you're still struggling to swap, please contact the Best Wallet support team via [email protected] or open a ticket on our Support site.

Important reminder: Best Wallet will never request your wallet’s private key. Keep this information strictly private and do not share it with anyone.
