Learn what tokens you need to hold in your wallet if you want to transact on a crypto network. Paying gas fees is a confusing but important element of crypto transactions — learn what you need to do and hold so you're free to send, swap, or spend your crypto.
Gas fees explained
Gas fees are a catch-all term for transaction fees paid to crypto networks to process transactions. For example, if you're swapping two tokens on the Ethereum network, you will have to pay a gas fee to process and validate your swap.
Gas fees are set and received by the crypto networks and are an inevitable part of transacting cryptocurrencies. When you pay gas fees, you’re essentially paying for your crypto transaction to be processed, validated, and secured on a blockchain.
You have to pay gas fees in the crypto networks' respective native tokens.
So, for example, you will have to pay gas fees on the Ethereum network with ETH, with BNB tokens when using the BNB Smart Chain, and with POL tokens when using the Polygon network.
Gas fees might also be called transaction fees or network fees, depending on the crypto network.
Note: Gas fees are never set by Best Wallet — if gas fees are high, it is normally because the crypto network you're using is very busy or you're executing a large or complicated transaction (like a cross-chain swap).

What tokens do I need for each network?
Each crypto network has its own native token, which is what you need to pay gas fees. This means you will need to own the following if you want to transact on each network supported in Best Wallet:
Ether (ETH) on the Ethereum chain to pay gas fees on the Ethereum network.
Polygon (POL) on the Polygon chain to pay gas fees on the Polygon network.
BNB (BNB) on the BNB Smart Chain to pay gas fees on the BNB Smart Chain network.
Bitcoin (BTC) to pay transaction fees on the Bitcoin network.
Without holding these tokens, you won't be able to send, swap, or spend any crypto on these tokens. You can buy ETH, POL, BNB, and BTC directly in-app, or deposit them from another wallet or exchange.

Need further support?
If you’re having trouble with transactions and gas fees, check:
Do you have enough gas tokens? Transactions fail if you don’t have enough gas tokens to cover fees. It's always good practice to have a healthy buffer
Are you using the correct network? Make sure you’re sending or swapping on the right blockchain.
Are gas fees too high? If the network is congested, waiting for lower fees might help.
