What Is Swap Slippage in Best Wallet?

Understand what swap slippage means and how it affects your swaps.

Updated this week

In this article:

Learn what slippage means when swapping tokens in Best Wallet, why it happens, and how to adjust your slippage tolerance for smoother swaps.

What is slippage?

When you swap one token for another in Best Wallet, the price you see before confirming your swap is the estimated price. Because crypto prices change quickly, the final price when your swap is processed might differ slightly from that quote.

That difference is called slippage.

Why slippage happens

Slippage occurs because token prices are constantly changing based on supply, demand, and how active the network is.

By the time your transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, the token’s price may have moved slightly up or down.

This is completely normal in decentralized trading — especially for volatile or low-liquidity tokens.

What is slippage tolerance?

Slippage tolerance is the percentage of price movement you’re willing to accept before your swap cancels automatically.

For example:

If your slippage tolerance is set to 1%, and the price moves by more than 1% before your swap confirms, the transaction will fail to protect you from receiving less than expected.

How to manage slippage in Best Wallet

If your swap keeps failing or showing “price changed,” you might need to raise your slippage tolerance slightly.

Here’s how to manage slippage effectively:

  • For stable or large-cap tokens, 1% is usually enough.

  • For new or low-liquidity tokens (like newly launched upcoming tokens), increase to 2–5%.

  • Avoid setting slippage too high, as it can cause you to receive less favorable pricing.

How to avoid slippage-related issues

  • Swap when network activity is lower to reduce delays.

  • Always double-check token prices before confirming a swap.

  • If you’re trading new or volatile tokens, expect more price movement than usual.
