Learn how to stake your tokens via a project's desktop website using Best Wallet.

In this article:

Learn how to take tokens you hold in your Best Wallet and stake them via a project's official website.

This process involves connecting your wallet to the website, authorizing the transaction, and confirming your stake on the dashboard.

It's important only to connect and stake your tokens on legitimate websites. Please verify any URL, double-check the project background, and carefully read any approvals pop-ups in Best Wallet. For more information on how to avoid phishing scams, please read our guide.

Quick summary of staking tokens

Staking allows you to lock your tokens into a smart contract to earn rewards, often expressed as an Annual Percentage Yield (APY).

  • Self-Custody: Your tokens are staked via a smart contract. While Best Wallet facilitates the connection, the staking rules and rewards are managed by the specific project.

  • Gas Fees: You will need a small amount of the network's native token (ETH, BNB, SOL, etc.) to pay for the "gas" or transaction fees required to stake.

  • Vesting & Periods: Some projects have a "lock-up" or vesting period where you cannot withdraw your tokens for a set amount of time. Always check the project’s specific terms before staking.

Step 1: Visit the Official Staking Website

To begin, go to the official website of the project you wish to stake with. Using the Best Wallet Token as an example, you would navigate to the staking section of the site.

Remember: Always double-check the URL to ensure you are on the official project site to avoid phishing scams.

Step 2: Connect Your Wallet

Once on the site, you need to link your Best Wallet. Click the Connect Wallet button on the staking dashboard.

Select Best Wallet (or Wallet Connect) from the list of wallet options.

A QR code will appear on your desktop screen.

Open Best Wallet, select the right wallet, then tap the Scan icon on the top right of the wallet card.

Next, scan the QR code.

In Best Wallet, tap Continue to authorize the connection. Please double-check you're using the right wallet.

Once your wallet is connected, you'll see confirmation in-app:

Step 3: Enter the amount to stake

After connecting, your wallet address and token balance will be visible on the dashboard.

Locate the Stake Now or Stake Tokens button.

In the pop-up window, enter the amount of tokens you wish to stake. You can often click "Max" to stake your entire balance.

Review the details and click Stake Now.

Step 4: Authorize/Confirm in Best Wallet

For security, you must approve the transaction within your Best Wallet app. You may have to initially authorize the transaction or confirm it, which will also show the estimated gas fee.

Tap Authorize/Confirm to send the transaction to the blockchain.

Wait for Processing: The website should display a "Transaction in Progress" message. Do not close the window until the process is complete.

Step 5: View your staked tokens

Once the transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, you should see a "Your Stake Was Successful!" message.

You can now view your updated Staked Balance and track your Staking Rewards directly on the project's dashboard.
