What To Do If Your Best Wallet Is Compromised

Learn what to do if you think someone has access to your wallet.

In this article:

Learn what to do if you think your wallet has been compromised, including what to do next and how to protect your funds.

What does it mean if your wallet is compromised?

If your wallet is compromised, it means someone else may have access to your private key and, therefore, full control over your funds.

Because Best Wallet is decentralised, we don’t have access to your wallet or the ability to reverse transactions. Once funds are transferred out of your wallet, they cannot be recovered.

Why you need to act fast

Blockchain transactions are final and public. Once someone else has access to your wallet, they can move your funds instantly, and there’s no way to get them back.

That’s why it’s essential to act quickly if you believe your wallet has been breached.

Step 1: Create a new wallet

Immediately create a new wallet. You can do this directly in the Best Wallet app:

  • Open Best Wallet, swipe to find the Manage Your Wallets screen

  • Next, tap Add Wallet, then Create New Multi-Chain Wallet

  • Give it a name/color, then tap Done

This new wallet is completely separate from any existing wallet, with its own private key and set of blockchain addresses.

Step 2: Move your remaining funds

If you still have funds in your old wallet, transfer them as soon as possible to your new wallet.

  • Open your compromised wallet in Best Wallet

  • Send each token to your new wallet address

  • Be aware that the attacker may also be accessing your wallet and could move assets faster — speed is critical

If all your funds have already been stolen, unfortunately, there is no way to recover them.

Step 3: Stop using the compromised wallet

Once you’ve moved any remaining funds, stop using the compromised wallet entirely. This includes:

  • Not importing it into other apps

  • Not using it for any deposits or purchases

  • Not trusting any addresses linked to it

If your private key was saved online, in cloud storage, or on a device shared with others, assume it’s no longer safe.

If you've used a compromised wallet to purchase an Upcoming Tokens

If a wallet becomes compromised but you still have an Upcoming Tokens purchase, don't worry — for now, your tokens are safe. The hacker won't be able to claim them before the claim period, and some projects may be able to move your unclaimed tokens to a new wallet.

Please contact the respective team of the upcoming token project or the Best Wallet support team.
